Honeymoon: Dubai, Day 2 Sightseeing

The second day in Dubai was going to be the sight seeing day. We jumped in the hotel car and took a tour of the city for a few hours. The first stop – the largest mall in the world called Emirates Mall. The Dubai-ers love to shop. There were huge mall complexes everywhere.



Amy was not happy walking through these malls because Anthony put a no shopping ban into effect.



Another feature of this mall – an indoor ski mountain. Again, another strange thing in the desert.



Next stop – a popular outdoor water theme park called Wadi Water Park. It looked cool but we didn’t bring our suits so no fun for us.



Next was the Burj Al Arab, a 7 star hotel that is renowned as one of the best and nicest hotels in the world. It is built on a man made island. Naturally, we weren’t let near the hotel so we took a picture from afar. The heat was so bad that we burst into sweat immediately upon getting out of the car (over 100 degrees).



Next stop was the largest moseque in Dubai, Jumeirah Mosque. It was closed unfortunately but we could check out the outside of it. Impressive.



Dubai has a lot of construction going on (and a lot of the construction has been abandoned given the economic climate). One of the projects they are most proud of is a skyscraper that when completed at the end of this year, will be the tallest sky scraper in the world. We started to notice a pattern – tallest skyscraper in the world, largest mall in the world…..





We then went to the water which separates Bar Dubai from Deiza. These old boats bring goods and people back and forth and have been doing it for hundreds of years.



After seeing all the major sites, it was time to relax by the pool for the rest of the afternoon.




After the tanning, we got ready for dinner. The sunset was nice.



We went to the Jumeirah Madinana, a collection of restaurants and shops along the water. It was nice to walk around.
