Honeymoon: Maldives, Day 2 Biking and Relaxing

The Maldives are 11 hours ahead of NY time so the time change caused us to wake up early for the first couple of days. On the second day of our honeymoon (Friday), we woke up and decided to take a bike ride around the island to explore our surroundings. Amy seemed right at home on the bike, but Anthony felt it was a little small for him (the somewhat flat tire and seeing this picture confirmed this was, in fact, too small a bike for Anthony!).




We rode up to a place called Fanditha which was an outdoor restaurant where they also played music at night. It was very cool.




And had great views of the water and relaxing beds.




There was even a wedding pavilion. Amy began thinking about another wedding ceremony…..



The bike ride was great as it showed us what a perfectly manicured, beautiful island we were staying on.




We were hungry after all the exercise so we headed to Reethi restaurant for breakfast.




They had the BEST smoothies here. Guess which drink belongs to Anthony and Amy.



Hmmmm, what should we do today…



I know, lets sit out on the comfy couch, in the sun by our villa and read a book.




After a lot of relaxing, Anthony decided to do something out of his comfort zone – learn how to scuba dive. So, he went off to the dive centre alone to get the basic skills instruction. First, a lesson on all the equipment. Check. Then, hand signals. Check. They getting all the equipment on and submerging. Check. Then flooding your mask and clearing it. Check. This went on for 2 hours as Anthony learned all the basics. The fact that he was interested in scuba after years of repeating as his father would say (“that is a risky thing to do”) can be attributed to his Uncle Robert who brought his scuba gear to the Hamptons last summer and also to Amy and her dad for all the discussion of how great it was diving in Hawaii. The resort was a PADI certified resort so what better place to learn. Anthony was well on his way.

After the dive instruction, Anthony met Amy at Reethi beach for some afternoon sun and relaxation before dinner. Anthony was delighted to meet up with his wife at that time as he had learned the day before that the resort offers complimentary iced tea, doughnuts and cakes at 4pm everyday by the beach.

Then it was off to dinner at Reethi Restaurant where it was “spice night”, a selection of various Indian food.



Upon returning to the villa, Anthony had another surprise for Amy…..
