Honeymoon: Maldives, Day 1, Getting Used to our surroundings

Once we arrived, we checked in at reception which was unlike any reception/lobby we had ever seen. Open air, thatched roof structure with large wooden pillars. They had some juice drink waiting for us. Nice first touch.

Olga checked us in and then took us on a tour of the island by golf cart (the primary mode of transportation).

We went by the main restaurant, bar and beach area – Reethi. It was a little overcast, but still a beautiful place.

Amy had one requirement for a honeymoon – a hut over the water. Well, she got what she wanted.

Upon arriving at Villa 211, we met our private Villa host Shiyan. He looked after our Villa and was available to help us make reservations, navigate around the island. It was the next example of what would be some of the best customer service we’ve ever experienced. Shiyan offered us a Maldivian ritual foot wash and massage. We couldn’t turn that down after our long 24 hours of travel.

Our villa was amazing….

The views from the Villa were unreal – perfect white sand beaches and clear blue water. The first picture below is what we saw every morning when we woke up.

Anthony had arranged for a special start to our check-in.

Being the fish that he is, Anthony didn’t waste any time in walking down the steps from his Villa directly into the majestically blue Indian Ocean.

After a short while, we decided to head to Reethi to sit on the main beach. Another cool feature of the island was that each room had two bikes for the guests to use to get around the island.

We settled in under a thatched roof. This would become our spot on the beach for the entire trip. It provided good shade in an otherwise hot spot, but we were steps away from the water which was a great temperature.

They gave us flavored water and cool towels everytime we sat there. Anthony loved the flavored water.

After some rest and relaxation, we headed for a short walk.

The bar had live music every night. We loved this room.

OK, we’re going to start a new game on this blog – guess which drink belongs to Amy and which one belongs to Anthony.

After a long day of travelling, we ordered room service and ate on our deck back at the villa. Feeling adventurous, we wanted to try some local cuisine….pizza.

I would love to guess. In the first picture, the red one is Anthony's in the 2nd picture the one with the orange is Anthony's.

I have seen pictures of these huts from some TA promos we did. I am incredibly jealous! Looks like a great spot!
