Nestled in southern Ireland a few miles away from a small town called Kinsale is one of the most famous golf courses in Ireland - Old Head. It being the end of September, we wanted to squeeze a round of golf in knowing the weather was going to be questionable. The trip started with us realizing we were the only 3 people in the entire hotel. A little scarey as it brought to mind The Shining. Swess and Anthony awoke early as we had an 8am tee time and wanted to take in the views over water since it was pitch black when we arrived the night before (Amy was supposed to play a few holes, but the wind was going to be bad so she excitedly opted for a spa day instead). The rooms in the clubhouse overlooked the golf course and the water with large sliding glass window doors. Anthony quietly got up and looked outside without his glasses on, and while it was still very dark, he saw what looked like an animal right outside his window. He stumbled in the dark to get the camera and took the following shot (later realizing the animal was a statue, but a good picture nonetheless).
This course was absolutely gorgeous. Right on cliffs and overlooking the water. It was the most picturesque golf course any of us had ever seen. We tried to ignore the card put under our door in the morning describing the expected weather for the day (24-30 mile per hour sustained winds with gusts up to 50mph). Isnt the course nice.....
After renting clubs, a golf buggy (not cart, but buggy in Ireland), purchasing a total of 9 sleeves of golf balls, and hitting some practice shots, we were ready (sort of) to experience the legend of Old Head. We needed a lot of help from our friendly Irish caddy (name not understandable so, for purposes of this blog, lets call him Joe). Joe helps swess line up a 4 putt.
Joe helps Anthony understand the meaning of life.
While the picture below appears as though Swess is joking around and hitting a ball into the ocean, it actually isnt - this was the tee box of just a normal hole at Old Head. Explains the scores of 130 for each of us.

The course looks awesome. I could totally hit around 100 there. Unless of course it is 18 holes! Ahh, good golf humor.
Seriously any time you want to see my 150 yard 4 iron drives (my driver has a tendency to veer sharply left as if avoiding angels standing in the fairway) or my typical 3 putts let me know!
