Upon arriving to the main port, were made our way through the masses of people (very busy port and main part of town) to our taxi which was going to take us up the mountain to our hotel in Ana Capri, Hotel Caesar Augustus. As you might imagine, the winding streets leading up the mountain were very narrow. We're glad we werent driving.
Once we got up to the hotel, it was worth it. The views from the hotel and room were great. Don't look down!
The sunset views were also terrific.
We had a great dinner in the main town of Capri on our first night, followed by yummy gelato. We even had ime to take a quick picture.
The next day was a relaxation day. We hung out by the pool which had amazing views.
Amy had her favorite reading material - THE ECONOMIST!
We walked around the town of Ana Capri - narrow streets also mean narrow sidewalks. We are darting around cars and motorcycles the whole time.
The next day we rented a boat to sail around the island of Capri and spend the day on the water. Our favorite kind of day! There were cliffs and rocks all over the island.
There was a bronze statue of a man sitting atop a rock. The protector of Capri!
There were staircases from the water up to houses on the cliffs that were carved into the stone and rocks. This is one way to stay in shape.
We were able to see grottos all around the island - areas where the water had degraded the rock and created little caves. It reminded Anthony of the grotto at the playboy mansion - oh wait, this is a g-rated blog.
There were huge rocks all around the island. A famous one had a hole in the middle of it big enough to sail through it.
In fact, the most famous grotto was the Blue Grotto. Anthony remembers that his sister, Vanessa, thought this was one of her favorite things in Italy. But first, lunch at a restaurant overlooking the Blue Grotto.
Anthony order "strawberry gelato" which he was very excited about. That excitement quickly faded away when it was clear something was lost in translation. Just plan old strawberries with some sugar on top. BOOOOOO!
The water level was high so we had to get into a canoe and then ask the "captain" pulled the boat towards the entrance by chain, we had to crouch down in the canoe to squeeze through the entrance and not lose our head.
The water was an amazing shade of blue (hence Blue Grotto). Very cool spot.
Amy is never happy than when she is ON the water.
Anthony is never happy than when he is IN the water.
Views from the boat of the island were stunning.
After another day of relaxing we finished out capri trip with another tasty italian meal. So much for the diet and workout routine......
