First the ballet, now the opera (Dec 3)

As we try to get in all the culture we can in London before moving back to NYC in a week, we attended both of our first opera experiences at the English National Opera House in London on Thursday, December 3rd. The opera was Puccini's Turandot which is a pretty famous opera (apparently). It was a modern version of it and it was in english so we didnt really get the full experience. They also had a small screen on top of the theatre where the words of what people were signing were displayed. We couldnt decide whether this was distracting or helpful (distracting since we kept looking up at it, but helpful so we could better understand the story line). Here are a few pictures from the theatre (not during the performance).

And below is the most famous song that most of you will recognize. This is in italian and sung by Pavarotti, a little different experience from what we saw.

We liked the opera. Amy still votes for the ballet, while Anthony thinks the opera was more interesting. The debate will continue......
