Amy and Anthony were the first to arrive, which means we got dibs on Anthony's parents bedroom! We went to hit some golf balls at the driving range (after first going to the store to buy Amy some golf clothes and shoes which she was very excited about). Amy's golf swing was surprisingly good.

We did some shopping at the local publix (a religious experience for those that have never been) and then headed back to the house. We went to take a walk on the beach that night. We saw Dolphins swimming and the sunset was very nice.

When we walked behind the ritz carlton, they had an amazing sand castle. It was very tempting to go and stomp on it, but we resisted.

Anthony's friend, Walter, made the trip down after spending Christmas with his mother in Tampa. It was good to catch up or a few days as Walter is now a proud resident of LA. We hit the golf links and Amy did an admirable job (and looked very cute).

Walter, on the other hand....

A day later, Anthony's friend Jeff joined the mix after spending some time with his nephews and brother in the florida keys. Another round of golf, another Amy outfit. Anthony took a page out of his father's book and taught Amy how to make sure her feet were always aligned correctly. Where the ball went after the swing, thats a whole different story.

Mike and Julie made it down with their cute dog Maddy. This was going to be Maddy's first experience with water - high anticipation for all. She did quite well, but was a little freaked out at first. The before....

The during...

The after....gotta dry off

Everyone enjoyed the show including Matt and Vanessa.

Walter and Jeff headed to Miami for a crazy New Years while the boring Civale clan stayed back in Naples. The girls were able to pull off getting last minute reservations at a restaurant in Old Naples on New Years eve which is where we headed for a dinner (and unexpectedly some dancing). The food was good and as we approached midnight, the waiters passed around new years favors - hats, horns, beads. Making the evening even funnier was the fact that Mike lost his glasses so had to wear his sunglasses out at night. Comedy ensued. It started off mellow.

Then, as we got closer to midnight, got a little more interesting as Mike decided to single handely get the dance party started for the restaurant.

Then moments before new years.....

Mike didnt want the party to end (but the restaurant did!)

The next adventure for the crew was to do some fishing. We rented a boat for a few hours and sailed out to try to catch some fish. The boat was stocked with beer, sandwiches (hand made by Jeff and Anthony), chips and then veggies, hummous, couscous (can you tell which were brought by the men on the boat and which were brought by the woman?). There were several members of the crew that had never caught a fish (vanessa, julie, mike). Others were pros (Jeff). Of course, life is not as interesting without competition so we had one on who would catch the most fish.
We wasted no time one we got out to sea (after seeing some more dolphins on our way out). Vanessa's first fish:

Julie's first fish:

Mike's first fish:

Nice form Amy.

The fishing crew (minus the photographer).

Nice looking fish Amy.

Nice looking fish ness.

We enjoyed our time on the boat and expect many more fishing trips to come.

After respecting the laws about which fish we could keep and which we couldnt, the below are the keepers.

Amy won both the number of fish competition as well as largest fish. There will be a rematch during our March trip to Florida!
