Stockholm, Sweden - Oct 2-4

Our next European adventure was to Stockholm, Sweden. We had wanted to try to get to this water based city during the summer, but given the wedding and honeymoon we had to go in early October.

We could see how the city could be a great summer destination. Our weekend was cold and rainy so we had to use our imagination. First thing Saturday morning we jumped on a boat to go up the archipelago which is a string of dozens of islands.











We then went to the Vasa Museum and the Titanic exhibit. In the 16th century, the king of Sweden loed the navy and spent a lot of money on building a state of the art, large, new vessel that would be the pride of the Swedish navy. After being christened, the ship set sail and 28 minutes into the maiden voyage, the ship sank. Opps. In the late 1800s, someone discovered the ship, called the Vasa, and brought it up. This museum was created with the restored ship. It was huge and an impressive site.







Sunday, we took a bus tour of the full city. Nice all around.











It was too bad the weather didnt cooperate with us but we could see how Stockholm would be a fun city on the water during the summer. Although, an important milestone occured. After a year of insane travelling, Amy declared that she had "hit the travelling wall" and was done with living out of a suitcase. So, this blog may become a little less interesting on the travel front but we will have other things to keep readers interested.....
